Thiago is graduated in electrical engineering since 2006 and post graduated in economic engineering and has a MBA in finance and a postgraduate degree in Public Administration. Previously, he was Advisor to the CEO in 2023, head and deputy head at Power Generation projects department in Energy Research Office – EPE from 2019 to 2023. He was also Technical Consultant from 2013 to 2018. He works at EPE since 2008 with power generation projects of all energy sources (gas, hydro, wind, solar, biomass, nuclear, etc.) and more recently with energy economics and socio-environmental studies, including studies related to the energy transition and energy planning studies. He works directly in technical and financial economic studies that supports energy policies of the Brazilian Ministry of Mines and Energy.

Currently, is Head of Energy and Economic Studies in Energy Research Office (EPE), a Public Company linked to Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME), being in charge of studies concerning long term energy sector perspectives, energy efficiency, energy demand forecasts, distributed energy resources assessment, electricity and natural gas market analysis as well as Brazilian energy statistics
Head of Energy Economic Studies Department
Electrical Engineering (Federal University of Rio de Janeiro/UFRJ), MSc. and DSc. in Energy Planning by COPPE/UFRJ. Since 2006 at EPE, where she joined by public tender, she actively acts in the coordination of studies related to energy savings, which include the construction of Brazilian energy statistics, such as the National Energy Balance and the Statistical Yearbook of Electricity, electricity market scenarios, among others. She held the positions of advisor, research analyst, technical consultant and deputy superintendent. She began her career at the National Electric System Operator (ONS), working in load monitoring and in the preparation of forecasts for planning studies for the energy and electricity operation of the National Interconnected System. Participated in research and consulting projects in studies related to the Brazilian energy matrix, energy modeling, electricity market, energy efficiency, residential sector and income classes in Brazil, for companies and government institutions, which resulted in the production of academic works and technical articles -scientific publications in national and international journals.

Mrs. Almeida holds a Doctoral Degree in Ecology from Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro, a Master´s Degree from Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, and a Bachelor´s Degree from Universidade Federal de Uberlândia.
Since she joined EPE, her main contributions involved coordination of several socio-environmental studies required for hydroelectric power plants licensing process; management of workgroups on environmental costs of hydroelectric power plants and transmission lines; Equator Principles and Ecosystem Services applied in energy planning.
In October 2017, Mrs. Almeida was nominated Head of Environment Department. Nowadays she also manages the environmental studies for mid and long-term energy planning and the environmental group activities that subsidize the energy auctions.
She is also a member of the Executive Committee on Governance, Risks, Integrity and Internal Controls of EPE.
