05/10/2026 - During Rio Oil & Gas 2026, held in Rio de Janeiro from September 21 to 24, the Brazilian Energy Research Office (EPE) launched the Technical Study Guide: "Assessment of Undiscovered Conventional Oil and Gas Resources in the Pelotas Basin."

21/08/2026 - Brazilian liquid fuel and LPG demand is forecast to increase 3.6 billion liters in 2026 and another 3,7 billion liters in 2027. Economic growth and positive job market performance, income transfer policies, and government programs should contribute to the continuous increase in fuel consumption throughout this period.

05/08/2026 - The Energy Research Office (EPE) has completed the registration process for projects interested in participating in the 2026 Power Capacity Reserve Auctions (LRCAP) focused on Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) — “National Storage” and “Storage”. A total of 6,091 projects were registered, representing 296,807 megawatts (MW) of power capacity, setting a record for participation in auctions within the Brazilian power sector.

22/05/2026 - Meeting was part of the IMF’s annual Article IV Mission to Brazil and addressed the impacts of oil and gas price volatility on the energy sector and the national economy. The Energy Research Office (EPE) received, on May 22, representatives of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for a technical meeting held as part of the annual mission related to Brazil’s Article IV consultation. This year, one of the topics of interest of the mission was the impact of international oil and gas price volatility on national economies and productive sectors.

22/05/2026 - Financing the energy transition is fundamental for climate neutrality and achieving the goals of the Paris Agreement. In Brazil, the Energy Research Office (EPE) is leading the pioneering initiative to map public and publicly-supported financing for the energy transition in a single database that compiles data from 2015 to 2024.
