The Energy Research Office (EPE) has published a technical document that consolidates the discussions held during the Workshop on a Brazilian CCS Roadmap: From Dialogue to Action, which took place on September 24th, 2025, in Rio de Janeiro. The event brought together representatives from federal agencies to discuss the essential elements for building a national strategic agenda for activities related to different carbon capture and geological storage (CCS) pathways in Brazil.

Organized by EPE's Division of Oil, Gas & Biofuel Studies (DPG), the meeting aimed to create a collaborative environment to align institutional responsibilities, identify regulatory challenges, and propose concrete actions to enable the development of CCS in Brazil. The discussions addressed topics such as governance, assessment of storage potential, monitoring mechanisms, and social engagement strategies, as well as incentive mechanisms, market structuring, and risk-sharing—fundamental aspects to ensure safety, transparency, and efficiency in the implementation of the technology.

The technical document summarizes the main reflections and proposals presented, providing input for national energy planning and for defining public policies aimed at decarbonizing Brazil's energy and industrial sectors. With this document, EPE once again reinforces its commitment to promoting qualified and inclusive debates capable of contributing to the development of technically efficient, economically viable, and socially inclusive solutions that drive the achievement of the country's climate goals.

The document is available in English and Portuguese.
