EPE launches the Technical Note "Capacity and Flexibility: Concepts for incorporating attributes into planning"

Reflecting the improvement of planning to the various changes that have occurred in the world energy matrix and also in Brazil, EPE launches the Technical Note "Capacity and Flexibility: Concepts for incorporating attributes into planning", aiming to propose definitions to level and facilitate the dialogue with society about the subject. The terms are distinct: while capacity is related to power available at anytime, flexibility refers to the ability to cope with supply and demand variations.

In addition to the conceptualization, the Note also discusses aspects of the Brazilian context and how different technologies can contribute to meeting these requirements, as well as identifying the challenges to quantify the needs of the system and incorporate these analyzes into long-term planning.
