Long Term Planning

The national energy industry planning is an essential condition for the country to position itself competitively in the international economic context and at the same time to meet the enormous social and environmental needs inherent to an emerging and continental nation such as Brazil. To think and strategically plan the energy industry in the long run is the main objective of the long-term energy planning.

The aim of long-term studies is to anticipating innovations and events that may cause disruptions in society, in  economy and in its relationship with energy, such as electric vehicles, solar generation, new habits of society from connectivity and social networks, etc. Studies on possible futures for the energy industry allow decision makers taking proactive actions for the construction of this future as well as defining robust strategies of expansion of the Brazilian energy system.

The National Energy Plan (PNE) is the main vehicle for communication and debate with society regarding the national energy long-term strategy.
