EPE publishes September 2021 Brazil’s Short-Term Fuel Market Outlook

The Brazilian fuel market has been recovering gradually in recent months, remaining above pre-pandemic levels in June and July. Diesel and gasoline registered the main increases.

Diesel sales growth reflects the strong performance of the Brazilian agricultural sector, mainly due to a record grain harvest in 2020/21. The resumption of mobility has led to a recovery in Otto cycle fuel consumption, mainly for gasoline. In the September 2021 Brazil's Short-Term Fuel Market Outlook, EPE forecasts diesel sales growth of 6.6% and gasoline sales growth of 10.0% in 2021.

Brazil's Short-Term Fuel Market Outlook is a bimonthly report of EPE that presents projections for monthly sales of petroleum products and biofuels by distributors in Brazil. This publication aims to reduce information asymmetry, favoring decision-making in the energy sector.
