EPE launches the Technical Note "Demand Response: Concepts, Regulatory Aspects and Energy Planning
In an effort to consider every resource available to the Brazilian Power System, EPE launches the Technical Note "Demand Response: Concepts, Regulatory Aspects and Energy Planning". Demand response brings to power consumers greater control, knowledge and management over their energy consumption in response to supply conditions, no longer having a secondary role in this market and starting to have an active participation in the future of the energy system.
Brazilian Electricity Auctions in 2018 - Presenting the results and how they influence energy planning studies
In 2018, the Ministry of Mines and Energy conducted four electricity auctions, two New Energy Auctions (“A-4” and “A-6”) and two Existing Energy Auctions (“A-1” and “A-2”). The objective of New Energy Auctions is supplying the regulated market (captive consumers), providing long term energy contracts for power generators. In the case of Existing Energy Auctions, they must contract energy from power plants already developed and in operation, mainly for short contract term.
"CEM Days - Integration of Renewables in the Electric Sector: Paths and Challenges to Energy Planning
On 21-23 November 2018, Rio de Janeiro hosted the workshop "CEM Days - Integration of Renewables in the Electric Sector: Paths and Challenges to Energy Planning". The event, organized by EPE, took advantage of the framework enabled by the Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM), and its aim to empower energy decision makers around the world with the up-to-date information and tools, as means to accelerate transition to low carbon energy.
EPE publishes study about Underground Gas Storage
he history and development of underground gas storage (UGS) is inseparable from natural gas industry development. Because it is a network industry, the natural gas sector has required, since its beginning, technologies to deal with the temporal and spatial mismatch of supply and demand.
